I took this photo at the M Hotel in Las Vegas while attending a seminar and just added the words to it. What do you think? Inspirational artwork generates good energy, doesn’t it? Ok, now let’s get to the story.
Do you know how it feels to be stuck? It’s the most annoying and uncomfortable feeling. I started making vision boards when these stuck states crept up on me and it helped to move out of it. In personal development circles they say that any action is better than no action. Action helps to generate new energy and new energy is attracting new things into your life. “Stuckness” cannot attract anything good into your life, so if you can help it don’t stay there.
Make a list of the things you want, life dreams you want to achieve, goals you want to achieve and start a journal, keep this journal with you and keep brainstorming. If you cannot come up with any ideas, dreams or desires, make them up! Fortunately your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between real and fantasy. You can even make a small vision board on your journal pages. Maybe you want to decorate the front and the back of your journal with some inspiring words and images, make it special, make it your creative meditation.
Or get some poster board and start creating. Looking at all these inspiring images evokes all kinds of dreams and desires. Uncover the buried treasures inside of you, get out of the routine, the stress, the every day life and immerse yourself into your dream world. It might just bring out some great ideas and possibilities on what to do next and generate new inspiration into your life. It’s not only helpful, it’s also is a fun way to be deliciously creative.
Here some simple instructions on how to make a vision board
- Get a bunch of magazines and start looking through them to find the images to represent what you are looking for, you also need glue and scissors.
- Cut out images: larger full pages to use as background and smaller ones for the second layer
- Lay them out on your poster board. I use 22″ by 28″
- When you like the layout start to glue down the first layer, of background images
- Lay out the next layer of smaller images and when you like the result glue them onto the first layer.
- Last add the words, to complete.
When you are done, hang the vision board where you can see it as much as possible. You can also take a picture of it and put it in your wallet or add it as wallpaper to your computer. Now get started and have fun with it! Please let me know of your experience with it, I love to hear vision board stories.
It is a magical process, get unstuck, experience the ultimate creative act, of creating your life.

Yes, it’s getting unstuck in a fun creative way
Wow!
You make this sound so fun and easy. Of course even us creatives get “stuck” at times…guess I had better go get my scissors out and get cracking! The perfect activity for this gray and snowy day. Thank you for the inspiration!
